[The Hub Client] Reseller billing very limited, while other less important features are released

8

Hi team, I’ve been a customer of WPMU for some time now, and have been generally happy and grateful with the system you’ve created for agency website management.

However, the reseller platform still continues to lack basic functionality that make it a long term viable solution to scale my web hosting + management business upon. Features that other platforms such as WHMCS have standard, such as:

1 – Automatic price increases – In order to increase/decrease the cost of any active product plan, I would have to re-bill every one of my customers. This is not viable, and make periodic price changes a nightmare.

2 – Price changes per product – Can’t change price after a product is created. Have to create dozens of products to accomodate different prices.

3 – No discounts or billing intervals – Cant creaste coupon discounts on a product to adjust for a custom price. Cant create a yearly/monthly version of the same product automatically.

4 – Billing automation control & reminders – Granular control over which transactional emails are sent, as well as their verbiage. Setup of reminder emails, to avoid manual follow ups around failed payments etc

5 – Ability to automatically charge client payment methods on file (with their consent) for additional add-on service or subscriptions

6 – Bulk role changes to access reseller products (current has to be changed manually per account)

7 – Multiple contacts per website account – To separate a client billing admin from an ops or other client team member account

8 – Automatic billing retries – I should be able to set an unlimited number of billing retries for failed payments, or automatically adjust the active subscription for a new card

9 – Ability to use other performance plugins, such as WP Rocket, and still retain the ability to track performance + reporting within the Hub (Hummingbird is often delicate and leads to other cache conflicts when using asset optimization, that Rocket seems to handle better)

10 – Can’t change the website linked to an active subscription

11 – No ACH payment options

12 – Can’t adjust WP memory on hosting plans, leading to higher costs than necessary for simple, low traffic elementor sites that do not need to be spending more than $25/mo for hosting

I’m sure there’s others, but these have ben the main pain points for me.

I would love to see these features implemented to the roadmap asap, otherwise I may need to consider switching to a more scalable platform as my company continues to grow.

Thank you-

    Hi John ,

10 – Can’t change the website linked to an active subscription

We’ll be adding more improvements regarding this down the roadmap. At the moment this is possible manually from our backend if needed, so you can always open a new ticket for such changes.

12 – Can’t adjust WP memory on hosting plans, leading to higher costs than necessary for simple, low traffic elementor sites that do not need to be spending more than $25/mo for hosting

I’m afraid this is more specific to how Hosting works in general. What we offer is a Managed Hosting platform and each Hosting plan allocates sufficient resources to avoid performance issues.

Trying to change those resources can affect the overall server performance and hence they are fixed.

However, I’ll make sure all your feedback is brought to our team’s attention so that they are aware of your request.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

+1 – I feel like there’ve been a lot of DOTWs about “What cool thing should we build next” but I wish some focus would go into this billing system instead. Auto-billing one-off invoices to the customer’s card on file is probably my biggest dealbreaker but as the OP mentioned, not being able to adjust pricing without canceling and rebilling my entire client list is another biggie. I know there are limitations on Stripe’s side too but Stripe itself is more flexible than this.

    +1 here.

Many of the points that John mention has been my most headaches using WPMU billing, but looks like they dont want to pay attention to these biling features missing, I know t takes time to implement any change and involve sevreal steps and people inside WPMU but as Greg says WPMU rather to ask for more feature instead of pay attention to the already requested and mainly needed.

I will add to the list the option to custom date billing directly and extend the use of more than one currency for clients. (Already make my oficial request on that matter)

    Cheers.!

    Hi Julian

Thank you for sharing your feedback and being direct. I understand that you may be frustrated about not seeing many new visible features, especially since you have requested several and have been waiting a long time for their implementation.

I want to assure you that the team is still actively working on the Hub and the billing system. However, our focus over the past period has primarily been on stability, performance improvements, and integrating various components of the platform (hosting, plugins, client management, automation, etc.). While this work may not result in a large number of immediately visible billing features, it is essential groundwork for our platform’s overall functionality.

I will bring your and other members’ feedback to our development team’s attention and hope we can implement the requested features in future updates.

    Kind Regards,
    Amin
